So…who am I, and why should you listen to me? I’m Kathy Goughenour, founder of Virtual Expert® Training.
And I know EXACTLY what it’s like to be where you are. I worked for almost 20 years in corporate life.
I toed the line, did all the right things, and assumed that I would be rewarded by climbing the ladder.
Imagine my surprise when I was told that I was passed over for a promotion because I SMILED AND LAUGHED TOO MUCH.
I was crushed. But looking back at it, that was the best thing that could have happened to me—because it showed me that as long as I worked for someone else I would ALWAYS be living on someone else’s terms.
I followed someone else’s instructions.
I completed projects someone else’s way.
And I could be told that my own bubbly personality was A BAD THING.
I knew I couldn’t live like that anymore. I had to take charge and carve out my own path!
So I launched my business. And I made A LOT of mistakes—the same mistakes you are probably making in your business RIGHT NOW.
Mistakes like:
- Trying to do ALL THE THINGS
- Saying yes to the WRONG CLIENTS
- COMPROMISING on my rates and services
- Waiting for clients to FIND ME
Each of those mistakes was a hurdle that kept me from running a THRIVING VA business…
But from every mistake, I learned a lesson
It took a while, and a lot of trial-and-error (and more and more errors) to go from the struggles of launching a business to being an in-demand virtual assistant with more work than I wanted.
But I knew I could NEVER go back to the 9-5 life.
